To enable healthcare students to gain insight into the health care experiences of people living in a rural setting in Ghana, West Africa. You will stay at our beautiful home in Ghana where you will get a chance to meet local people and feel part of the community.

Week One: Orientation to local community, working in the local health centre.

Week Two: Working in the local health centre.

Week Three: Placement in district hospital.

Week Four: Placement in district hospital.

Community health activities

  • Spend time with local guide to learn about village life.

  • Visit to local schools (in term time).

  • Visit community development projects, for example compost toilet building, wildlife conservation.

  • Attend local religious services and ceremonies (Christian and Traditional).

  • Herbal medicine walk.

Social and cultural activities

  • Volta River Boat Trip.

  • Slave Fort Visit.

  • Local Market Trips.

  • Visit 'Auntie' to get your Ghanaian clothes made.

  • Cultural Performance.

Prices for 4 week placement - £1400

                    6 week placement -£1600

Price includes:

  • £100 donation to our sanitation programme

  • Airport pickup.

  • Transport to Meet Me There from Accra.

  • Accommodation and three meals per day while on placement around Meet Me There and at Keta Hospital and during weekends at Meet Me There.

  • Support from Meet Me There volunteer co-ordinator.

  • Community guide when undertaking Community Health Activities.

  • Trasport to and from placement.

  • Social and Cultural Activities as listed .

  • Return trip to Accra.
